Islamic Prospective On Beard – Complete Understanding

Posted by Umer Hayat On October - 19 - 2009 4 COMMENTS

Beard In IslamI’m these days trying to explain Islamic concepts to people to educate them and show them what really Islam said on everyday issues. You know many people don’t have too much Islamic knowledge so they simply hear things from here and there and start implementing on them. Islam Concepts motto is to tell actual Islamic teachings to people and bring Islam’s awareness in them.

Back to topic, Today we will discuss Islamic prospective on beard, how long beard will be, any recommended style, trimming is allowed or not and some other important points.

According to Islamic scholars, Beard is considered as Wajib (Mandatory) to Muslims. It is known as beauty of a Muslim. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “Verily, Allah is Beautiful and loves beauty”. Allah Almighty only choose best and beautiful things for us. So we should need to obey His orders, as He knows better than anybody.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that Beard is the one that distinguish you as a Muslim with Non-believers. So it is a sign of righteous people.

How Long Beard Will Be:

Some people have misunderstanding in this part but Islam said really clear things on length of beard. Muslim beard should need atleast one hand, greater the better. Here are some very clear proofs on beard length.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) says: “Trim closely the moustache, and let the beard flow (Grow).” – Narrated Ibn Umar (R.A.) in Muslim Shareef, Hadith # 498. Same thing said in Hadith # 499, 500, 501, 449.

Tirmidhi narrated that Hazrat Abdullah Ibn Umar (R.A) used to cut the beard which was exceeded then his hand grip.

Also all the four Imam of Islam agreed on this point that beard length should not less than one hand. So if your beard is less than one hand, it is considered as Makrooh-e-Tehrimi (close to haram).

Shave Is Haram In Islam:

Let be clear, shaving is totally haram in Islam without any doubt. Check this Hadith as a clear evidence, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “Anyone who shaves has no claim to the mercy of Allah” – Reported by Ibn Abbas (R.A.) in Tibrabi. According to Scholars, “To shave off the beard is unlawful (Haram) and one who shaves his beard is legally speaking an unrighteous fellow (FASIQ); hence, it is not permissible to appoint such a man as an Imam. To say Taraweeh behind such an Imam is Makrooh-e-Tehrimi (near prohibition)” (Shami Vol.1, p.523).

I think it is very clear that shaving is haram in Islam without any doubt.

Trimming Is Allowed or Not:

If your beard is more than one hand then you can trim it. But it should not less than one hand. “Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) ordered us to trim the moustache closely and spare the beard” says Ibn Umar. – Muslim Shareef, Hadith no. 449.
“Hazrat Jaabir (R.A.) said: “We used to grow long beards and only during Hajj and Umrah did we trim them to the required length (i.e. fist length).”

As I previously said, beard known as male beauty in Islam. So you can trim to get a better shape. Beard should not let grow in a way that makes a person look disgusting to people. In other words, the Muslim should make sure that his beard adds to his smartness and looks cool. But (again saying) what ever you do, it should not cut it down to less than one hand.

Misconceptions Among Muslims on Beard:

These days people are getting more and more westernized especially the youth. They follow their latest styles. But it is not good for us and Islam teachings is totally different from that.

Another thing is while argument, people agreed that beard is Wajib, but length of beard is not mentioned in any hadith, Hence, if you have bit of hair on your face, it would be fine, because it is also called as a beard – This is totally wrong.

Hopefully above proves are more than enough for any person who have any misconceptions on beard. You can read more in details about Misconceptions on beard.

Why I’m in French Cut Below:

This is interesting, you can think that I’m saying these things but in below picture, I’m in French cut so what I’m doing. Actually you are right. But the fact is I’m only 19 years of age and my beard is still not completed. It is only on chin area. So it is my natural look not custom-made. When it will complete, I’ll surely grow it according to teachings of Islam.

6 Things That Every Muslim Women Want In Society

Posted by Umer Hayat On October - 14 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Here I like to discuss 6 important things that every Muslim women want to see in their societies. World largest polling service Gallup did polling in 2005 with 1000 individual women face-to-face from 8 predominantly Muslim countries including; Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco and Jordan. Gallup asked few questions from each of them and found these 6 things common that what they are looking for in their dream society. You can also see a video in which Muslim women scholars talking about women rights at what Muslim women want video.

1) Equal Legal Rights

Women in Muslim world want equal legal rights as men. Although it is not a very big issue now because laws in polled countries are so define for women. Also most Muslim men believes on “Equal Rights”, In turkey there is virtually no gap (92% of both women and men said women should have the same legal rights as men) but this percentage seems little different in other Muslim countries.

2) Voting Without Influence

Although situation is getting better and better, but still there is lot more to do for women to vote without any pressure. Check out the chart for better understanding.Decision to vote

3) Do Jobs

Nowadays Muslim women want to stand on their own feet. They want to contribute in society, want to prove themselves. In short, they want to do jobs outside and exposure the world.

Agree to do Job

4) Same Education Facilities

It is true that in Muslim countries, women haven’t such education facilities as men. This is one of the reason they are far behind then men. Literacy gap between women and men in Pakistan is 73% but in Iran education gender gap is 0, means in Iran men and women have same facilities.

But if we look towards whole world, we will notice that this problem is not only with Muslim world, Germany and France have education gender gap of more then 50%. United States same as Iran 0 difference and Japan already reverse gender gaps (literacy rate between women is more then men).

So seems like it is not only in Muslim countries but it is whole world phenomenon. Yet also we need to minimize this gap.

5) Attachment with Moral and Spiritual Values

Survey found that most of Muslim women want respect, peace, courage in their societies. It is true that they are more about moral values then money and sex. They see what women in west doing. They have live examples of them, working in office and also in home, 100% tired life with no gain. So they realize what is good for them.

6) Religion: Islam

Women from all the 8 predominant Muslim countries says that they want religion in their country. Many of them said that Islam and Shariya is the only or a source of legislation. So that’s mean they want to see Islam playing role in their society. See a graph to understand in details what Muslims think about Shariya as a law.

Mathematical Miracle Of Holy Quran

Posted by Umer Hayat On October - 7 - 2009 2 COMMENTS

Holy Quran is a complete miracle and inside it, there is also hundreds of miracles. We are discussing only one of them at now that most of the people don’t know about. I did a very good research, as my basic responsibility is to provide the information with solid proves. and found this is absolutely correct so it’s a perfect time to share this with all of you.

Holy Quran Scientists:

The whole credit goes to those Holy Quran scientists, who are spending days and nights to found these things and prove to people that Yes! Quran is the one, who can benefits you in this world and here after. As Allah said “And hold fast altogether to the Rope of Allah and do not become divided.“(The Rope of Allah is holy Quran). [Surah Aal-’Imraan 3: 103].

Miracle of Numbers in Holy Quran:

So back to topic, Actually those Quranic scientists found that many of Quran’s verses that mentioned one thing is equals to another, e.g, Life = death. For further explaining, see below the words mentioned in Arabic Quran.

Man 24 = Woman 24 (So both of them are equals)
Dunia (one name for life) 115 = Aakhirat (one name for the life after this world) 115
7 Heaven 7 = Creation of Heaven 7
Malaika (Angels) 88 = Shayateen (Satan) 88
People 50 = Messengers 50
Museebah (calamity) 75 = Thanks 75
Faith 25 = Infidelity 25
People who are mislead 17 = Dead people 17
Zakat (Taxes Muslims pay to the poor) 32 = Barakah (Increasing or blessings of wealth) 32
Sun 33 = Light 33
Desite 8 = Fear 8
Hardship 114 = Patience 114
Paradise 77 = Hell 77
Tongue 25 = Sermon 25
Muslimeen 41 = Jihad 41
Eblees (king of devils) 11 = Seek refuge from Eblees 11
Benefit 50 = Corrupt 50
Life 145 = Death 145

These are not all, here are some more that appeals you little more.

Quran mentioned Salah 5 times in Quran
Quran mentioned Month 12 times in Quran
Quran mentioned Days 365 times in Quran
Quran mentioned Sea 32 times in Quran
Quran mentioned Land 13 times in Quran

Little more math for Sea and land.

Sea + land = 32+13= 45
Sea = 32/45*100=71.11111111%
Land = 13/45*100 = 28.88888889%
Sea + land =100.00%

Modern science has only recently proven that the water covers 71.111% of the earth, while the land covers 28.889%.

What you can say about this, Is this a coincidence?

Allah Said in Quran “(This is) a Scripture (Quran) the revelations whereof are perfected and then expounded (In every sphere of knowledge etc) and then explained in details from One (Allah Almighty), who is all Wise and Informed (from all things)” [Surah-Hud 11:1].

Now a big question arises for non-Muslims who believes that Prophet Muhammad wrote Holy Quran. Question is who tought Prophet Muhammad all this? Read more What Prophet Muhammad said 1400 years ago. The thing is, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)was illiterate, so all these word repetitions couldn’t have been calculated by an illiterate man. All these cannot possibly by coincidences as well. When it comes to the Word of God, even the insignificant outer (physical aspects besides the meanings) are miraculous.

I also want to share a video with you so you can understand it completely.

If you have any thing to say then don’t hesitate to write a comment here. I’ll try my best to answer your questions.

Wazir Khan Mosque is situated in Lahore. It is a very holy place from religious point of view. It is famous for its extensive tile work on its exterior and interior walls. It is sometimes called as “a mole on the cheek of Lahore”. Shah Jehan built this in 1635. It looks same after centuries passed away.

  • Moti Masjid:

Moti Musjid Lahore

Moti Masjid literally means ‘pearl mosque’. It was built in 17th century. It is situated inside the Lahore fort, built using pure and stainless white marble in 1637. As Shah Jehan created many beautiful mosques in his time, this is also one of them. It is comparatively small as compared to other mosques of Lahore but I put it is top 10 because it is so beautiful. It is established on the western side of the fort. The Sikhs robbed off its precious jewels which were fixed on its walls during the revolt of 1857. It stands today towering high in the sky telling the story of the generations of people who has passing by.

What Christian/Jewish Scientists Say About Quran and Science

Posted by Umer Hayat On October - 1 - 2009 7 COMMENTS

As the day passes many well known scientists who research more and more about Quran’s teachings and what the Holy Quran said about science, they almost at this point that Quran said exactly the right thing almost 1400 years ago. They are wondering, if Holy Quran is not the word of God then who an uneducated person who don’t know reading and writing like Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), predicted all the things about future as well as things about astronomy, brotherhood, also how can such type of person gave us the world’s greatest economic system that many believes that way of salvation for today’s world.

No need to go into long discussion because video is just next to you. You can clearly see what Christian/Jewish scientists think about Holy Quran and how they link Quran/Future prediction/Science together. There is whole lot more for non-Muslim brothers and sisters to think what is true and where they are going.

If you are looking for exact details, I mean in above video you only see scientists comments but in the video below, Christian/Jewish scientists will prove to you with facts and figures that what Holy Quran said about human structure and universe around 1400 years ago that scientists are now discovering.

Non-Muslim Women Who Wearing Hijab – Talking About It’s Benefits

Posted by Umer Hayat On September - 28 - 2009 2 COMMENTS

This is the story of a non-Muslim women who use to wear Hijab regularly. She raised some very nice points, that we and also those who don’t believe in Hijab (women protection) need to take a look. She explained some historical as well as scientific things that are too right.

My biggest concern to those who talked wrong things about Hijab is, “Hijab is also in their own religious books”. For example, if you are a Christian then Bible also said that covering women body as well as hair is necessary as Nuns do and if you are a Jew, Hindu or following any other religion then wearing Hijab is also in your own books. Why they only attach Hijab to Islam, but I personally feel more proud to hear that our sisters are following the true guidance. So we are more in to their religion then themselves. This is what really makes me comfortable and proud.

Anyway! here is the video for you of a girl who wear Hijab and telling people her own experience.

This Is What Prophet Muhammad Said 1400 Yrs Ago!

Posted by Umer Hayat On September - 19 - 2009 15 COMMENTS

Muhammad (PBUH)

As you know judgement day is a must thing that will happen to every human being. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) showed us these signs  almost 1400 years ago about judgement day. You can clearly see that most of them already happened and remaining will occur on their specific time as Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) mentioned.

Today Science is talking/proving things that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said 1400 years ago. You can image the power of a person, Who was not educated in any institution nor at home, don’t know read or write but He teached us the things, those happened and still happening as He said word by word. Subhan Allah!

He said these things on quite different occasions but I’m going to summarize them and writing the actually context of wording.

  • People will ride on saddles that aren’t saddles (Think about Cars)
  • The distance on earth will become short. (Think about Aeroplanes)
  • Horses will not be use in wars. (Think what is going on nowadays)
  • Muslims will defeat the Byzantines which will end with the conquest of Constantinople (Istanbul).
  • The Jews will gather again to live in Bilad Canaan.
  • Very tall buildings will build (What is happening these days)
  • The disappearance of knowledge and the appearance of ignorance, with much killing. (Think same thing are happening today)
  • Adultery will become widespread, and the drinking of wine will become common (Nowaday is a best example)
  • The number of men will decrease and the number of women will increase until there are 50 women to be looked after by one man. (Still women increase and ratio is going higher and higher with everyday passes)
  • Islam will become worn out like clothes are, until no one will know what fasting, prayer, charity and rituals are. (Almost this thing is present and continue to become worst)
  • Allah will send a disease to fornicator that will have no cure (Think about Aids)
  • People will begin to believe in the stars and reject AL QADAR. (Nowadays, muslims as well believing in stars. Al Qadar is ‘The divine decree of destiny’)
  • Men will pass by people’s graves and say: ‘Would that I were in his place’; (Think about large amount of suicidal deaths these days)
  • Two large groups of people will fight one another, and there will be many casualties; they will both following the same religion (Think about World War II)
  • Approximately 30 DAJJALS will appear, each one claiming to be the messenger of ALLAH.
  • Earthquakes will increase (What is going on these days)
  • Time will pass quickly (What is going on these days)
  • Killing will increase (What is going on these days)
  • Wealth will increase (Yup! Think about nowadays but this is still to be increase as Prophet Said)
  • Women will be wearing clothes but not wearing clothes

These are some of the things that holy Prophet Muhammad said on separate occasions. Most of the things are happening these days but some of them still needs to be even more worse as Prophet said.

And on another occasion Prophet said: ‘If my ummah (followers) bears 15 traits (qualities), tribulation (judgement day) will follow it’. Someone asked; What are they O messenger of Allah. Then Prophet replied:

  • When any gain shared out only among the rich, with no benefit to the poor.
  • When a trust becomes a means of making profit.
  • When paying ZAKAT becomes a burden.
  • When voices are raised in the mosque.
  • When the leaders are the worst of all.
  • When people treat a man with respect because what he may do.
  • The appearance of the Imam MAHDI.
  • The appearance of the DAJJAL (Anti Christ).
  • The appearance of Ya’juj and Ma’juj (biblical Gog and Magog).
  • Isa (Jesus) will come during the time of Dajjal and kill him.
  • The rising of the sun from the west.
  • The destruction of the Ka’ba and the recovery of its treasures.
  • The wind that destroy almost all things.
  • The smoke that will punishes all the non-believers.

No time to go into details of these signs but will go in short future and talked about them one by one. Just hang with me and continue reading more interesting things on this blog. Your inspiration is really what I want at this point.

Back to topic, as we look at this article we realize how true the Messenger (P.B.U.H) was, these signs were prophesized 1400 years ago!. It shows that Prophet Muhammad was a true messenger of God and also the Holy Quran told us these things.

So my dear brothers and sisters! if you still not start what Allah Almighty told us to do in this apparent world, then act now, you also know that we have very less time. So act now with good intentions so Allah will help us to became a good Muslim and if you are a good Muslim, you are also a good social personality.

Are Women Allowed to Pray in Mosque?

Posted by Umer Hayat On August - 30 - 2009 4 COMMENTS

women prayingThere are too many people in our community who make there own rules. They do what they think that is right thing without any authorization. Women are marginalized, taking out of Islamic activities. You know Islam gave equal rights to men and women so how we stop them from doing any Islamic activity. This is totally against Islamic laws. How can women learn things if they don’t go to mosque because mosque is like a school for any Muslim.

If you don’t know what women did for Islam then read this below.

  • First person who accepted Islam was a woman = Hazrat Khadija (Radi allah unha)
  • First person who died (shaheed) for Islam was a woman = Hazrat Summiya  (Radi allah unha)
  • Second most hadith reported by any person was a woman = Hazrat Ayesha (Radi allah unha)

And you can go on and on and see what women did for Islam in earlier days and still they are doing a leading role in various parts of the world.

back to topic! Actually there is not a single verse of holy Quran or hadith which prohibit women from praying in mosque. Infect there are several hadith which speaks the opposite. You know in Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) mosque (Masjid-e-Nabawi), when prophet was in mosque, women were also in that mosque. They kindly listen what He said and implemented on them and Prophet (PBUH) never prevent them from entering the mosque. That is the authentic mosque overview.

In Sahih Bukhari Vol.1: Hadith # 832: Ch # 84, it says : When your wife ask to go to the mosque, do not prohibit them.

In Sahih Bukhari Vol.1: hadith # 824: Ch # 80, it says : When the women ask you to go to the mosque at night allow them. (you can see even in night women can go to the mosque).

In Sahih Muslim Vol.1: hadith # 881: Ch # 175, it says : The best row for men is first row and worst is the last, and best row for women is the last row and worst is the first. (indicating that men and women can pray in the mosque). There are several other hadith.

In Sahih Muslim Vol.1: hadith # 884: Ch # 177, it says : Do not prevent servant of Allah to go to the mosque.

In Sahih Muslim Vol.1: hadith # 891: Ch # 177, it says : Do not take away the shade of mosque of the women.

Guidelines For Women & Mosque Administration:

women are praying

This is clear till now that women can go to mosque, can pray in mosque, can do exact prayers as men but there are few guidelines that need to take care of from both sites: From women as well as from mosque administration.

There should be an equal and separate facilities for women in the mosque. There should be no enter-beginning of sexes, that how you have in other places of worship in other religions, if that so then chances are more for other things then worshiping Allah Almighty. There should be separate entering, separate ablution facility and such other things.

In various parts of the world, women allowed to pray in mosque and there are equal facilities for them as well. It is only in few countries like India and Pakistan that women are not allowed to pray in mosque or there should be only very less facility for women to go to mosque but this trend is changing now and hopefully women will go to mosque and take part in Islam like they are doing in other countries and they did in past.

Taraveeh in Shah Faisal Mosque Islamabad – World’s Beautiful Mosque

Posted by Umer Hayat On August - 25 - 2009 5 COMMENTS

We three friends Taimour Hashmi, Ammar Azhar and Me (Umer Hayat) made plan that we should pray taraveeh in world’s beautiful “Shah Faisal Mosque” in this Ramadan. You know it’s hard to show patience if you are talking about such beautiful place. So without further delay, we went to Shah Faisal Mosque for 2nd Ramadan’s taraveeh. It was a great journey, as we all live in Rawalpindi, almost 30-40 kilometers from Shah Faisal Mosque (which is situated in Islamabad), so we sat in taxi at 9 pm and went start to the mosque without further wait in only 200 PKR equals to $2.50.

In the way, we were thinking that we are late and as usual blaming each other for cause, but when we reached at the mosque’s door we found that we are on time. Mosque is so beautiful, total marble flooring, very neat and clean. It was too big that we don’t even remember where were the place for ablution. We did inquiry for that. That person was so nice, he guided us. Finally we were at the ablution point.

Ablution place was so beautifully created with marble. It was like boxes in which water pore down. All in all that was quite beautiful and good looking. After that we went up to the mosque’s main hall. That was an awesome hall. If you go to that hall, I believe that you will say exactly the same as I said “O great Subhan-Allah”. Although it was not my first visit to Shah Faisal Mosque but still it was something really excited for me.

So we go in there and just sat on 6th row as there were 6 rows completed till then. After listening to mosque’s Imam for 5 min, we all started taraveeh. Imam was great in reciting Quran. We found great pleasure in listening the holy Quran.

Then suddenly after 10th taraveeh, I saw a new Imam took place. That person was also really nice even his speed of reciting Quran was too slow. So it was really easy in understanding the holy Quran.

All in all, we were quite happy. Prayer ended at 12:07 am. We did dua as well after finish. beg hundreds of things from Allah Almighty including the growth of this Islamic blog.

To summarize the story, we took another taxi and came back our homes at 2:00 am, that time driver took 230 PKR nearly equals to $2.90. bit nice though!

Hang on! Hang on!

If you think that I’ll only share my story with you and nothing else that you are completely wrong. This is not my style atleast.
